Juneau Overview
Courts Serving Juneau
Juneau is served by the Juneau Trial Court, which handles all case types for Juneau City and Borough and serves as the First Judicial District headquarters for Southeast Alaska. This court processes felony criminal matters, civil cases, family law and domestic relations, probate, small claims, and misdemeanor offenses. Superior Court and District Court divisions operate here, and the court also receives Superior Court cases from smaller Southeast Alaska communities like Ketchikan, Sitka, Haines, Skagway, and others.
As the seat of state government, Juneau's courthouse is well-staffed compared to smaller Alaska courts. The clerk's office handles records requests in person during regular business hours. Walk-in service is generally efficient. For complex or archived records, calling ahead with a case number or party name speeds up the process.
Juneau is accessible only by air or sea — there is no road connection to the rest of Alaska's highway system. The Alaska Marine Highway ferry system connects Juneau to Ketchikan, Sitka, Haines, Skagway, and other Southeast communities. Air service includes Alaska Airlines and regional carriers.

Results show case type, filing date, docket history, and scheduled hearing dates. Access CourtView at records.courts.alaska.gov. No account is needed.
Select "Juneau" as the court location when searching, or search statewide if you are not sure where a case was filed. If you know the case number, search by that for the most direct result.
CourtView shows case status and docket entries but does not display full document text. To get copies of specific documents, contact the Juneau clerk's office. Requests can be submitted in person, by mail, or by fax. Include the case number and the specific documents you need.
Note: Juneau handles Superior Court matters for a large portion of Southeast Alaska. Cases from smaller Southeast communities are often filed here. If you are searching for a case that originated in a smaller Southeast community, check the Juneau location in CourtView.
