Copy Fees and Records Requests

The Alaska Court System uses a uniform fee schedule for all record copies. Standard copies cost $5 for the first page and $3 for each additional page in the same request. Certified copies cost $10 for the first document, plus $3 for each further document. If staff must research older files or compile a case history, there is a $30 per hour research charge. Audio recordings of court hearings, available on CD, cost $20 per disc.

You have several ways to get copies. In person at Nesbett Courthouse is the fastest option since requests are handled as current. Mail requests go to the courthouse address with a written description of the case and a check made out to the Alaska Court System. Email requests go to 3ANRecordsRequest@akcourts.gov. Faxed requests use form TF-311 ANCH sent to (907) 264-0873. Include the case number or party names, the specific documents you want, and your contact information with all requests.

Some case records are restricted under Alaska law. AS 40.25.120 limits access to certain prosecution records. Records sealed by court order, cases involving minors, and some domestic matters may not be available to the general public. The court clerk will let you know if a restriction applies to the records you request.

Note: Records removed under AS 22.35.030 cover acquittals and dismissals after 60 days; marijuana possession cases under AS 22.35.040 for qualifying individuals became eligible for removal starting January 1, 2023.
